Fortress earned the name honestly. Queen bed, a fireplace whose restoration is coming soon, and an attached bathroom that has a second door opening to the upstairs hallway.
That second door is the small architectural detail that gives the room its name. You can shower without coming back through the bedroom. Anyone else in the house can use the bathroom from the hallway without crossing the room. It’s a courtesy for the room and for the rest of the house at once.
It’s a cozy room — low light, soft blankets, the kind of quiet that settles in fast. The fireplace will only make it cozier when it’s back.
